Belated Valentine's Day post

...See what I mean by not very good about posting?! It's nearly the end of Feb., but better late than never!

Valentine's day is one of my FAVORITEE holidays, even though I am single this year, aaannd, I'm pretty sure I've never had a good/great valentine's day when I did have a boyfriend, so you can't say that's why I love it! :D

This holiday is the mother of pink & red, so I knew I wanted to go with either/or. But when I picked out my clothes that morning, it was obvious red was the winner! And instead of reaching for my never fail Russian Red, I tried another look.

MAC Cherry lip liner w/ Hot N' Saucy Tendertone Lip Balm on top

I really liked this combo because if you didn't know already, Russian red is a matte red, and extremely drying. I usually have to slather on the lipbalm an hour before I put it on. Of course, the look is worth it, sometimes you just want a sophisticated matte red, and Russian Red is the gal to do it. However this combo was less BAM! in your face red, and moisturizing thanks to the Tendertone lip balm. Most of the pigmentation (if not all) is from the liner. The gloss is all thanks to the tendertone. I do like this look a lot because, even though I do own red lipgloss, the gloss intensifies the look, while the tendertone enhances it.

Here's how it looked w/ the rest of my face :)

I even curled my hair! I think I used rollers this time around. So hard to sleep in! :( but I do love the results. Too bad my hair never stays, by the end of the work day, most of it had already fallen out :( Any tips to keep curls in longer?

My ensemble for the day

Heart Cardigan: Forever 21
Skirt: Forever 21

Hope you guys had a good Valentine's day, regardless if you have a significant other or not! It's almost March, hard to believe!

MAC Tendertone lip balm in Hot N' Saucy

These tendertone lip balms are part of the Cook MAC collection that just released February 9th. I, myself have never triend tendertone, but apparently they're very popular because I saw a lot of excitement online when this collection debuted.
The balm comes in a heavy glass packaging, almost exactly (if not so!) as the paint pots. Although it looks pretty intense in the pot, the product is more of a sheer wash of color. It looks REALLY red in the pot, when on, it gives my lips a nice, healthy glow, but glossy. It is buildable, but only to a certain point. If you layer the product on, the pinky glow gets a darker and a little more noticeable, but you won't be able to reach the same color as it is in the pot. It has conditioning properties, so it does make my lips feel a bit softer, and it also has SPF 12. It's strawberry-kiwi scent reminds me of my childhood lip balms.

Swatched, not nearly the same as it was in the pot.

Nekkid lips & slightly more pink, glossy lips

Taking pics for the blog at the office... no shame!

I do like Hot n' Saucy, however since it is in a tub, it makes application less than ideal because it is a little sticky and shiny. I'd like to keep it in my purse since it'll go with everything because of its sheerness. Reminds me of Benefit's Benetint lip balm, which I was a HUGE fan of. I used to have it in my purse all the time until I lost it (the purse) :( and just never repurchased it because it was $20 (compared to $16 for the tendertone) and I had so many other lip products lying around. I also think Benetint applies a bit darker, and is rose-scented.

I wish that the actual packaging was as cute as the box! :(

Unfortunately, Hot N' Saucy is already sold out on the MAC website (see what I meant by popular?) but hopefully you'll be able to purchase it on Nordstrom's or at your local MAC store/counter.

Miss T.

Milani Lip Flash in Flashy

I was at Target on my quest to find more Revlon Lip Butters when I strolled by Milani cosmetics. This sparkly pink caught my eye, and it was Milani Lip Flash, in Flashy.

It says "Full coverage shimmer gloss pencil", and I would say it's a pretty good description! A fuchsia pink with pink micro glitter, this lip pencil has high color payoff and shine without the stickiness of a lip gloss. There is still slight tackiness when I rub my lips together, but it is nowhere as sticky.

I actually really like all these new lipsticks & glosses in pencil form because the pointed tip makes it easier to apply, and you can get cleaner lines.

Bare lips & Flashy on

Tried to get a close up to see the shimmer & shine.

The product glides on effortlessly, and doesn't dry out my lips. It has a some hydrating properties, well as much as a gloss does.

I'm actually really happy with this product, and will definitely buy other colors if I see them at the drugstore. I've heard good things on certain Milani products, but have never personally purchased any thing from the brand.

MAC's Play Day Nail Laquer

Just a quickie post...

Decided to put this one up since the release date of Shop MAC, Cook MAC is out today, Feb 9th.

MAC Play Day polish is a creamy, cantaloupey orange, except slightly more coral.

I feel like it photographs less orange, and looks more milkier / pastel, but it's more of a brighter vivider orange in real life!

I'm wearing 2 coats in this picture, although I maybe should have done three because 2 coats is slightly streaky.

Perfect color for spring! ♥ Decided to bust it out early with the b-e-a-utiful weather we've been having!

Revlon Lip Butter - Lollipop

If you haven't heard of Revlon Lip Butters by now... well you just did. They have been a HUGE hit in the beauty community, and I originally heard about it online from a YouTube video. I made a mental note that I needed to try it, but I just recently remembered about it!

I feel like Lip Butter was an interesting yet misleading name, since it brings to mind a small tub of lip balm or something, but don't be mistaken, these are indeed lipsticks.

These provide sheer to medium pigmentation, depending on which color you buy, and one of the reasons why they are so popular is because they are pretty moisturizing for a lipstick! By moisturizing, I wouldn't use this in place of a lip balm, but it doesn't dry out my lips like most lipsticks do.

Here is Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop. I have a love/hate relationship with packaging. I love the translucent, jelly-like case with the quilted imprint. It makes them really adorable when they're displayed in a row, like popsicles! :9 The thing I hate most about the packaging is the little small clear window they have on top of the tube, most likely for you to see the color, but in my opinion it cheapens the overall look of the lipstick.

Revlon, why did you do this?!

The product itself is a inclined circle, which I was kind of ehh about because I prefer my lipsticks to have a point for more precise application, but it definitely isn't a deal breaker.

To me, it swatches & wears more brighter and less dark than it is out of the tube. Here it looks like a dark, plummy pink, but when applied, it's definitely a hot, lollipop pink... watermelon flavored lollipop.

Swatch of Lollipop

Here it is on, I need to work on my camera skills (or lack thereof)

And here it is on, compared to the rest of my face.

Like I mentioned earlier, it looks completely different from what the actual product looks like (guess that little packaging window is pretty ineffective!). It's a fun, bright pink which just SCREAMS spring & summer!

If you're looking to buy these lip butters... be patient! Lucky for me, I found some on my first try at Target, but they were only about 6 tubes left of the whole display! TIP: Since these are relatively new, and Super popular, stores usually have two displays of the lip butters. 1 in the regular Revlon spot, and 1 usually in the center where they showcase seasonal & new arrivals. I've been to about 5 stores, and have left empty handed at times.

They run about $7.49 - $8.49 depending where you buy them, I know my local CVS was having a BOGO 50% off Revlon lip, which explained why there was NOTHING left. :(

Hopefully this helps out with your Lip Butter search! I will post the other swatches hopefully within the next couple of days. :)

Now I should sleep soon cos I need to wake up for the Jason Wu x Target collection in the morning!

à tout à l'heure! (see you later),
Miss T

Hello.

Hello,

This is me.

I'll be honest with you, this is another one of my attempts on starting a beauty blog. Hopefully this time will stick. Why I want to start one? Because I love the beauty blogosphere, and I love all things makeup, hair & fashion. Why do I always fail? Because I suck at updating, I feel like I have nothing to post about sometimes (or nothing worthy), I have small eyelids so my eye makeup usually look pretty unimpressive in photos, and since I am nearsighted and wear glasses, it's virtually impossible for me to do video tutorials.

But here I am again, with another blog (same layout though shh), and with a push of my friend D, here it is.

I'm 23, turning 24. I live in the Bay Area in California. Currently working full time at an financial firm, although I need to go back to school eventually but to be honest I'm not exactly sure where I'm going. Just placing one foot in front of the other.

I am a crazy rabbit lady, and I'm sure some of my bunnies' pictures will manage to sneak its way on to the site. So let's get that out of the way.

Lola on the left, Buster on the right. ♥

I also have a dog, we don't really know what his breed is, but if I could guess I'd say he's a poodle/cocker spaniel/maltese mix.

His name is Knowledge (long story). He's a grandpa and he likes to sleep all day. Although he's small, when he sleeps on my bed, I feel like he's a Greyhound. ♥

So there's a little about me. I hope this blog sticks & I hope it's helpful or entertaining at least. Welcome to my blog!

x & o,
Miss T.
